Dolphy Dead at 83 due to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Rodolfo Vera Quizon Sr., popularly known as Dolphy, has passed away around 8:34 p.m. today, July 10, at Makati Medical Center due to multiple organ failure. He was 83.


The sad news was confirmed by his long-time partner Zsa Zsa Padilla who was with the late Comedy King and his whole family during the time of his death. The Comedy King has been in and out of the hospital for 5 years now due to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), His remains will lies in state at the Heritage Park in Taguig City.

Dolphy is Now in Critical Condition at Makati Medical Center

Comedy King of Philippine showbiz Dolphy is now in critical condition at the Makati Medical Center according to his son Eric Quizon.


In an interview by “Bandila” Wednesday night, Eric Quizon said his father has been suffering from emphysema which limits the flow of air to and from the lungs, causing shortness of breath.

“As of now, his vitals are stable but nagpa-fluctuate kasi, e. So, yun yung problema. Ibig sabihin, it could change any time. So, at the same time, yung kanyang kidney nga, ino-observe pa, mino-monitor. Kasi nga, hindi natin talaga alam kung bigla itong magpe-fail na lang bigla nang totally,” he said.

Quizon compared hid dad’s disease to cancer.
“Ang ganitong klaseng sakit, five years ago sinabihan na siya na parang stage 4 ang sakit na iyon. In cancer terms, very critical na iyon,” he said.

It can be remembered that Dolphy was rushed to the hospital last June 9 because of pneumonia. It was the Comedy King’s 10th pneumonia attack since his 83rd birthday last year.

Kapuso host Pia Guanio announces last night on "24 Oras" that she and husband Steve Mago are expecting to have a girl as their first born child.



"We found out na siya ay magiging isang mini me. It's going to be a girl," Pia revealed.

When asked if they thought already of a name for their baby, Pia said: "Hindi nga kami ready, eh. Actually ready kami sa pangalang panlalaki."

Angelica Panganiban and John Lloyd Cruz Spotted Kissing!

Kapamilya stars Angelica Panganiban and John Lloyd Cruz was spotted kissing in a public spot within the actress’ neighborhood. According to the report of PEP writer Demai G. Sunio-Granali, Lloydie has been seen visiting Angelica in her Quezon City condominium after the Derek-Angelica separation was made public.


"According to a source, who frequents the Quezon City condominium of Angelica, he has been seeing the actor in the same area these past few weeks.

On a separate occassion, another source tells PEP.ph that John Lloyd was spotted at the condominium lobby either picking up or dropping off his fellow Kapamilya star.

There have earlier reports abot them being spotted together.

On May 2, a Twitter user named @mommieangelove claimed that he/she has seen John Lloyd and Angelica getting romantic in a public spot within the actress’ neighborhood.

Angelica and Derek were even mentioned in some of the tweets:

“@IAmDerekRamsay we have videos of angelica and lloydie kissing... dont deny if its bcoz of 3rd party... she is not worth to live with...

Claudine Barreto, Raymart Santiago and Mon Tulfo Airport Fist Fight Video

Radio and TV journalist Mon Tulfo was reportedly had a fist fight with actor Raymart Santiago and wife Claudine Barreto on Sunday afternoon, May 6, at the arrival area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3. Watch the video below!




ABS-CBNnews.com report says:

In an interview with dzMM, Tulfo said he just arrived from Davao onboard a Cebu Pacific flight when he saw a familiar face at the arrival area reprimanding a flight attendant.

“Nasa arrival area na ako, palabas na ako ng arrival area tapos may napansin akong magandang babae. Namumukhaan ko, maganda siya eh. Hindi ko naman siya nakilala. Pinagalitan ang ground stewardess ng Cebu Pacific,” he said.

Tulfo said he later on recognized that it was Claudine Barretto scolding the airport staff.

“Nag-sympathize ako sa kanya dahil sabi ko, tingnan mo nga naman itong Cebu Pacific bakit naman ganoon. Marami na kasing insidente itong Cebu Pacific naging inefficient sa cargo ng mga pasahero. Kaya sabi ko buti nga,” he said.

Tulfo said he then decided to take a photo of the actress through his camera when he heard that the latter was already cursing the stewardess.

“Noong nakita ko na minumura na niya ang pobreng babae na mangiyak-ngiyak, ipatatanggal daw niya sa trabaho, kinunan ko ng litrato ng cellphone. Gusto ko sanang sabihin na ‘Cool ka lang, iyan namang babae, wala namang kasalanang personal sa iyo bakit mo naman minumura,’” he said.

Tulfo, however, said he was caught off guard after Claudine's husband Raymart Santiago approached him and was forcefully trying to grab his cellphone.

“Noong nilagay ko ang cellphone ko sa vest ko... nakita nung si Raymart. Pilit niyang kinukuha ang cellphone ko. Sabi niya, ‘Bakit ka kumukuha?’ Magpapakilala sana ako kaya lang nung pilit na niyang kinukuha ang cellphone ko, tinulak ko siya sabi ko wala kang karapatan na kunin ang cellphone ko. Doon nag-umpisa ang kaguluhan,” he said.

Tulfo said several people approached him and a punch landed on his face that’s why he decided to fight back.

“Habang sinasangga ko ang mga suntok nila dahil marami sila, minumura pa ako. Ako na ang binalingan ni Claudine ng galit niya. Minumura mura na ako. Tinamaan ako eh. Noong tinamaan ako sa may mata, nagdilim na ang paningin ko,” he said.

Tulfo said it took a while before airport authorities responded to stop the brawl.

Claudine narrated:
Pagbaba ho namin ng airport, naghintay po kami ng matagal sa carousel ng luggage. Walang dumating na luggage namin so lumapit kami sa ground stewardess tapos nalaman namin na naiwan pala 'yung luggage at ipapadala na lang daw.

“Tapos sabi nung friend namin kay Raymart, para nang may nagvi-video. Lumapit si Raymart. Ang pagsabi raw ni Raymart ‘Sir, ano hong ginagawa ninyo?’ Sabi raw sa kanya ‘Anong pakialam mo?’ Tapos sinuntok siya ni Mon Tulfo.

“Noong lumapit 'yung dalawang friends namin na lalaki, bigla na lang niyang pinagsususuntok at pinagsisisipa.

“Lumapit ako sabi ko ‘Anong problema mo? Bakit ka nanununtok?’ Tapos bigla na lang humarap siya sa akin, tinadyakan niya ako ng dalawang beses sa hita tapos tinulak ako sa may counter ng sobrang lakas.

“Kung ako na babae kaya niyang tadyakan at itulak ng ganyan ganyan, hindi ho maganda ang ginagawa niya. Nag-aamok siya ng ganun lang? Tinatanong lang siya ng maayos tapos magwawala siya ng ganun?

“Mga Kristiyano po kami at hindi kami sinungaling.”

Albie Casiño was Seriously injured in bar fight by Andi Eigenmann and friends

Showbiz writer-host Ogie Diaz reported on his showbiz talk show "Showbiz Inside Reports" on Saturday afternoon that former lovers Andi Eigenmann and Albie Casino had an unexpected encounter at a bar in Makati City on Friday night, May 4, which end-up to a violent brawl.




The Albie Casiño vs Andi Eigenmann bar incident allegedly happened early morning May 5, 2012, at Fiamma Bar in Makati City.

Diaz immediately shared that on Twitter this morning after Albie Casiño's mom Rina called him, crying over the phone, to share what happened to Albie at the bar.

According to Ogie Diaz's tweets, Albie Casiño (who's the rumored father of Andi Eigenmann's baby) had a chance encounter with his ex-girlfriend Andi at Fiamma Bar, and it was the latter who allegedly first attacked Albie: splashed wine on his face and slapped him many times.

Albie didn't fight back, according to Ogie as shared by his mom, but he was later attacked by Andi Eigenmann's male friends at the parking lot.

Albie reportedly sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to Makati Medical Center.

"Binugbog daw si Albie Casiño sa Fiamma Bar kaninang madaling araw. Pinalo daw ng bote sa ulo, dibdib at mukha. Dinala sa Makati Med," Ogie Diaz shares on Twitter (@ogiediaz), "Ayon sa info, dumaan sa harap ni Albie ang ex-GF at binuhosan sya ng drinks sa mukha at sinampal. Yun daw kasamang 2 ng girl ang bumugbog."

Indie film producer Carmela Honrado confirmed also on Twitter that the bar encounter between Albie and Andi did happen, as her daughter's friends were the ones who brought Albie to the hospital. CarmelaEHonrado: "@PelitaPeraltaUy Sis, my daughter's friends took Albie to the hospital... Totoo ung kwento."

She further told her Twitter friend that Albie sustained really serious injuries, but he's already out of the hospital. "Matindi! Pero safe na. Stitches and resting at home."

On ABS-CBN's Showbiz Inside Report this afternoon, Ogie added that Albie Casiño is now recovering at home (as out-patient) and that the Casiño family is thinking of filing a case against Andi Eigenmann's friends.

Meanwhile, on TV Patrol Weekend's interview with Mrs. Rina Casiño, she identified Andi's male friends as Frank Magalona, Carlos Concepcion, Jec Lacson and Neil Arce.

Jeric "Jec" Lacson is the son of Sen. Panfilo Lacson and was linked to Rhian Ramos early this year, while Neil Arce is the boyfriend of Maxene Magalona.

In their respective Twitter accounts, both Frank and Carlos denied any involvement in the said incident.

Andi has already aired her side in the TV Patrol report, admitting she did splash wine on Albie's face but also denied involvement in the violent attack that happened outside the bar.

The King of Comedy 'Dolphy' in Critical Condition?

The King of Philippine Comedy 'Dolphy' has been in and out of the hospital recently according to his son Epy Quizon.

"My dad actually – he’s [been] in and out of the hospital. He’s actually sick, he’s very weak, his immune system is down, and of course, he’s old, he’s 83," Epy said in an interview aired on dzMM, March 6.


The actor added, "Medyo madali na siya magkasakit and of course, wala na siya sa hospital ngayon, nasa bahay na siya ngayon. He’s back, he’s recovering. Pero he’s really weak, he’s suffering, his immune system is really down."

’Yung normal, isang maliit na virus na minsan nililigo lang natin, iniinda na ng katawan natin. ‘Yung sa kanya, isang ganun, it will turn out to be a full-blown pneumonia. So balik na naman siya sa ospital, tapos pag nao-ospital siya, it takes weeks for this virus to leave.

"Tapos [pag] matanggal ‘yun, babalik na naman siya sa bahay, tapos may bibisita na naman na may bitbit na pera, sa jeep na sinakyan nila, dadalhin nila sa room ng daddy ko, maa-ano na naman daddy ko, full-blown pneumonia na naman," he said.

"Continuous prayer, kasi ako naniniwala ako na… There was a point in time nga na akala namin that was it kasi talagang sobrang hindi siya nakakahinga, kasi ever since naman my dad’s problem is the respiratory system, heart is good, heart is in perfect condition, the mind. Pero ‘yung respiratory talaga eh, may hika ‘yan eh.

"He’s there, ganoon pa rin siya magpatawa, the spirit, he’s always in high spirits. Nothing has changed, he’s just sickly recently," Epy said.

Edward Mendez: Vicky Belo's New Boyfriend?

After being romantically linked to yoga instructor Al Galang, Vicky Belo is now rumoured to be dating another young man, aspiring actor and model Edward Mendez, a Sports and Science major 27-year old fitness and wellness consultant. Edward is currently the director of a company affiliated with the Belo Medical Clinic owned by Dra. Belo. And is a talent of ABSCBN.



Butch Francisco interviewed Edward on GMAs StarTalk TX last March 3,on how he felt after finding out that he is being linked to the famous celebrity doctor.

"Well, I’m surprised! I’m very surprised na ako yung na-link, pero you know hindi ko kasi siya in-expect, eh. I’ve been close to the Belo family for almost 10 years now and Vicki and the kids are like family to me."


The aspiring actor had only good things to say about the celebrity doctor and her family.
"Vicki is like a… so wonderful… isa sa pinaka-nice people I’ve ever known. So yung friendship just developed, so I got to know yung kids niya, I got very close to them also, I got to know her ex-husband, si Atom Henares. So you know, I just felt glad being part of the family."

Edward explained that he thinks that the public is misled into believing he is having an affair with Dra. Belo, becauseof his close relationship with the Belo and Henares family.
"Well, I guess hindi rin mapi-prevent yung ganitong sitwasyon na people would think… or ma-link ako kasi I’m very close to them nga, especially to Vicki,”

Butch to ask, if he is, once and for all, categorically denying all the rumours that he is the lady doctor’s another man.
"Yeah, absolutely! You know that’s why I’m very surprised itong ganitong pangyayari, itong pagkaka-link ko sa kanya happened.”

The aspiring actor was then asked by Butch to share his thoughts regarding Al’s rumoured affair with Vicki, if they are having a secret romantic tryst? Mendez also revealed that he does go out a lot with Vicki, her yoga instructor Al Galang, and Vicki’s daughter Cristalle Henares.
"It’s hard to tell, eh. It’s really hard to tell especially na they just broke up, si Hayden Kho at si Vicki, so I'm not in a position to say na merong something. Maybe they’re just friends, we never know, so we’ll just see what happens." Edward then ended the interview by delivering a message to Al: "Well, kay Mr. Al Galang, well, it’s nice to meet you and it’s nice din to know na you’re being nice to Vicki so… basta ang sa akin lang, ang importante sa akin, masaya si Vicki."

Comedian Jose Manalo Abandons Family for a Younger Woman?

In an interview on the "The Buzz" last Sunday (March 4th), Jose Manalo’s wife Annalyn told the show that her husband abandoned her and their children for a younger woman since January this year.




Sa pagkakaalam ko, at alam na alam na naming lahat, mayroon at marami na rin akong pruweba na totoo nga ito, totoo ngang may babae siya. Totoo pong inabandona kami.
"Umalis siya January 6 this year, pero yung mga bagay na ito, alam ko na last year pa.
"Since January alam ko na ang nangyayari, tinitiis ko lang lahat ito para sa mga bata.
"Actually, may mga text siya sa akin hanggang January 3 na, ‘Mommy mahal kita. Mommy I love you.’
"Iyon ang sinasabi niya sa akin kahit alam ko ng mayroong nangyayari.
"Tinitiis ko lahat yun para sa mga anak ko dahil mahal nila ang daddy nila."

Annalyn added how her husband made up stories about her to tell his colleagues and workmates.

Wala akong mahingan ng tulong. Binan kami sa Broadway.
"Nagpalit siya ng telephone number niya, hindi namin siya ma-contact."

Annalyn also revealed that she is still trying to regain her husband and had even contacted the mistress to try and regain her husband back.

Hindi ko siya inaway.
"Dalawang beses ko siyang kinausap na parang awa na niya, layuan na niya ang asawa ko dahil may mga anak ito, lalong lalo na may maliit kaming anak. Sana makonsensiya siya."

Annalyn said she is still willing to accept Jose with open arms if the comedian decides to come back.

"Ginawa ko to dahil sobrang sakit na ng nararamdaman ko para sa mga anak k"Alam mo, kung tutuusin, sabi ko, sana hindi na lang siya naging artista at naging sikat para wala kaming problema na ganito.

He didn’t believe I was an actor So I’m literally pitching myself to this guy, saying ‘No, I’m an actor… I’ve done some things’ And he’s like ‘Okay, what?’… Well, I’m here to work, finish Oliver Stone’s movies with John Travolta in it… And he’s like ‘Where’s Travolta?’… And I’m like ‘He’s not here.’
"Their computers are not working. So I told him,’you gotta look me up, I can show you something to prove (that I’m an actor) and he said ‘You are on the next flight to Japan,’ reminding me again. And then I’m looking on my iPhone because their computers weren’t working. And he’s like ‘hey can you get me one of those?’ And I’m like ‘can you let me in and I will give you one of these.’ And he still not believing (me).
"Finally I show him the trailer of John Carter on the iPhone and he stopped and he’s like ‘oh my God what’s that?’ And it’s a great white apes that seen there that’s in the trailer. And he’s like, ‘That’s not you.’ I’m like, ‘What?’ He’s like, ‘You have short hair.’ And I’m like, ‘Mate, I cut it. It grows. It’s me.’ So, then finally he’s like ‘I love trailer, go ahead. You are in.’ So, John Carter got me through customs."
