Warrant of Arrest for Baron Geisler
MANILA, Philippines – The Municipal Trial Court (MTC) of Bocaue, Bulacan has issued a warrant of arrest against controversial actor Baron Geisler in connection with the cases of acts of lasciviousness and unjust vexation filed against him earlier this year by teen actress Yasmein Kurdi.
Geisler allegedly made “lewd gestures” and “indecent proposals” to her during the taping of the television series “Suspetsa” last May 2009 in Bocaue.
In an order dated April 28, 2010, Judge Lauro G. Bernardo of the Bocaue MTC said the warrant was issued because “accused (Geisler) was not present in court for the second time.”
He added that “nobody wanted to receive the subpoena at the ABS-CBN Talent Center as Baron Geisler was no longer a talent of the studio.
However, Court said it had been informed that in the April 24, 2010 episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) teleserye of Channel 2, Geisler was the “spouse of the battered victim.”
Meanwhile, Ferdinand Topacio, lawyer of Kurdi, said the actress was ready to give a “substantial reward” to any law enforcer or private citizen who will implement the arrest order against Geisler so that he can be brought to justice.
“We cannot let Mr. Geisler escape trial and possible punishment by the simple expedient of making himself disappear in order to evade court hearings. We are appealing to all police personnel and concerned citizens to give us information in order to apprehend Mr. Geisler so that he would answer for the criminal charges. We will make it worth their while to arrest him or give information,” the lawyer said.
Topacio said that the exact amount of the reward will be discussed with his client once she returns from her trip abroad, but clarified that it will be “meaningful and substantial”.
“Hindi naman namin titipirin ang makakatulong samin,” Topacio said.
Acts of lasciviousness
On May 25, Kurdi filed before the Philippine National Police (PNP) charges of acts of lasciviousness against Geisler.
Kurdi lodged her complaint before the PNP Women’s Crisis and Child Protection Center in Camp Crame in Quezon City.
Kurdi alleged that Geisler harassed her during the taping of their television series. The actress said the harassment occurred in front of the production staff. She also disclosed that Geisler had allegedly sent her lewd text messages.
As for reports that Geisler was drunk during those instances, she said this was not an excuse for his behavior.
Kurdi said she filed a complaint against the award-winning actor because she wanted his alleged harassment to stop.
“Siyempre po nakakatakot din po. Ako kasi ayaw ko pong manatili ng ilang panahon na nanahimik. Hindi po ako nananahimik at hahayaan ko ito na patagalin ng patagalin. Hindi po ako ganoong klaseng tao,” Kurdi told ABS-CBN News in a previous interview.
This was not the first time Geisler has been accused of harassment. The daughter of celebrity couple William Martinez and Yayo Aguila also charged the young actor in April 2008 with acts of lasciviousness and unjust vexation.
