Chenee Capuyan Wins the 2010 ‘Voice of McDonald’s’ Global Singing Competition
A McDonald’s restaurant employee from Davao Del Sur Chenee Capuyan wins the 2010 Voice of McDonalds global singing competition. Watch the video below.
Our very own Chenee bested a number of contestants from around the world as she stunned celebrity judges and an audience of more than 14,000 with a powerful performance of Destiny’s Child’s “Stand Up for Love.”
As the new Voice of McDonald’s, Capuyan takes home $25,000 and an all-expense paid trip to Los Angeles with two VIP tickets to the Lady Gaga “Monster Ball Tour” concert in August 2010. Walter Afanasieff, Grammy Award-winning music producer whose credits include recordings by Mariah Carey and Celine Dion, surprised Capuyan with an invitation to record a demo in his Los Angeles studio.
Jin Hur from Goyang City, South Korea, took second place and received $15,000, and Jesus Molinares from Lima, Peru, placed third to win $10,000.
Lourieby “Chenee” D. Capuyan just turned twenty this year. She describes herself as a simple girl who really loves music and has a passion in singing. She’s the eldest among three siblings. Her mother taught her how to sing and she used to join in various singing competitions.
Chenee bested 300 aspirants in the Philippines and got the chance to represent the country in the global singing competition for McDonald’s employees.
From more than 30,000 aspirants from around the world who came from 1.6 million McDonald’s employees, Top 12 semi-finalists were chosen. From the 12, the representatives from Korea, Peru and the Philippines ended up in the Top 3. Chenee wowed the judges and audience at the finals of Voice of McDonalds which was held at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Florida, U.S.A. last April 22, 2010.
